LAKELAND HYDRO JETTING FOR DRAINS THAT SLOW DOWN AGAIN

A familiar pattern: the kitchen sink crawls in March, a cable clears it, and by July it is crawling again. Whatever coated the pipe wall is still there, and grease, scale or root hairs narrow the bore a little more each month.

Hydro jetting goes after that coating. A nozzle on a long hose throws high-pressure water at the wall, scours it and flushes the loose material out through the cleanout. Tim owns the company and works the jobs, which include hydro jetting, sewer line jetting, kitchen line grease jetting and root removal for homes in Lakeland and the Polk County towns around it.

A stopped toilet or a single tub clog is a cable job, and we say so. This guide covers the warning signs that separate the two.

The Visit, Start to Finish

DESCRIBE IT, SEE IT, PRICE IT, JET IT

STEP 1

Describe the Problem

Tell us which fixtures are slow and for how long. You hear a ballpark before a truck rolls.

STEP 2

Camera Goes In

On main-line and repeat-clog calls, the camera shows pipe material, roots, sags and the blockage.

STEP 3

Written Price

With the footage on the monitor, you get the number on paper, free, and it holds for 30 days.

STEP 4

Jet, Then Re-Check

The nozzle is matched to pipe and blockage. A second pass confirms clear flow, and any defect is reported.

Look First, Quote Second

THE CAMERA COMES BEFORE THE PRESSURE

Lakeland has some of the oldest housing in this part of Florida. Dixieland was platted in 1907, Beacon Hill in the early 1920s, and Lake Hunter Terrace filled in during the 1940s. A house from that stretch may still have clay, cast iron or Orangeburg in the line, perhaps patched with plastic over the years. Anything built since the 1980s is almost certainly PVC or ABS.

That is why the first step in an older home is a look, not a blast. The picture decides the setting, or decides that jetting is the wrong tool. We do not dig, reline or replace pipe, so serious damage means a referral to a repair contractor. The comparison with snaking explains where each method fits.

Jetting and the Cable Compared

WHAT A JETTER DOES THAT A CABLE CANNOT

A cable cuts a channel and slides back out. Water gets the rest of the wall.

CALL 813-733-7188

The Coating Comes Off

Grease and scale cling to the wall after a cable passes. Pressurized water strips them, so the pipe regains its full bore.

Rear Jets Pull the Hose

Nozzles with rear-facing jets scour all the way around the pipe and draw the hose forward, so the wall gets cleaned along the whole run.

Roots Are Cut Inside the Line

A root-cutting nozzle shears the mass where it grew through the joint, then the flow carries the pieces out.

Setting Follows the Pipe

Pressure is chosen for the material and condition the camera shows, not a fixed number. Fragile pipe gets a different answer.

Limits Stated Plainly

Jetting repairs nothing, will not stop roots from regrowing and promises no line stays clear forever. For a single fixture, our drain cleaning service is the right visit.

What Lakeland Does to a Drain Line

OLD PIPE, LIMESTONE GROUND AND SUMMER RAIN

Three local conditions shape most calls here. First, age: the city’s core was built out between the 1900s and 1950s, and the lines under those blocks are the ones the camera most often flags. Mature trees come with those districts: Beacon Hill is known for its live oaks, and Dixieland and Lake Morton carry heavy canopy.

Second, the ground. Polk County sits on limestone, and Lakeland falls in the part of west-central Florida where sinkholes are most common. A line that stops all at once, or a yard that sinks along its route, gets a camera before it gets water. Third, rain: roughly 57 inches a year, mostly June through August, in a city with 38 named lakes.

LAKELAND HYDRO JETTING QUESTIONS

Not covered here? Call or text. You get an honest answer whether or not it becomes a job.

Standard residential jetting runs $350–$650. A kitchen line is $275–$450, and a main line with moderate roots is $400–$750. A camera pass added to a jetting visit is $150–$300. The Lakeland cost guide lists what pushes a job toward the high or low end.

Yes. Houses built before the mid-1970s may have clay, cast iron or Orangeburg somewhere in the sewer line, and some of those materials do not tolerate pressure. The camera shows material and condition first, then we pick the nozzle and setting. Read what jetting can and cannot do for old pipe.

One slow fixture or a fresh clog usually needs only a cable, at $175–$325 for a branch line. Repeat clogs, several slow drains at once, and grease or root buildup call for jetting, which washes the wall instead of drilling a hole. The jetting versus snaking guide compares the two.

Tell us when you call. Some rural and fringe parcels around Lakeland are on septic, and your utility can confirm yours by address. We clean the house drain and the pipe leading out of the house. We do not jet a drainfield. See septic or city sewer for how to tell.

Call and describe it. Polk County sits on limestone, and a buried line can lose its support suddenly. The camera shows whether the pipe is blocked or damaged before any water goes in. A collapsed or voided line needs a repair contractor, not more water. See sudden sewer failure in sinkhole country.

A house has no grease interceptor, so cooking fat poured down the sink goes straight into the pipe, cools and coats the wall. A cable opens a channel and leaves the film behind. Jetting removes it. The city also advises sealing cooled grease in a container for the trash. See kitchen line jetting.

No. A root-cutting nozzle clears the mass out of the pipe, but the tree stays, and roots can return to the same loose joint. How long relief lasts depends on the pipe and the tree. Details are on the root removal page.

Yes. Emergency calls are taken 24/7, every day. Regular hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm, Saturday 8am to 7pm and Sunday 9am to 7pm, with same-day visits when the schedule allows. If water is coming up now, call rather than send the form.

No. Our work is cleaning, jetting and inspecting. Trenching, relining and replacement are outside it. If the camera finds a crack, an offset joint or a collapse, we show you the video and recommend a plumber or repair contractor. The recording is yours to share.
